Safiya Nawaar is a much sought after Middle Eastern Dance Artist,with many years of Classical Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Theatrical dance as a solid foundation before getting involved in belly dance, With grace and style, she enthralls and captivates audiences of all ages and ethnicities, and is well known for her artistic and challenging use of props such as veils, sword, zills/sagat, Wings of Isis, Assaya/Cane, tray and Shamadan. Her specialty is performing improvisational dance that comes from the heart and soul of the dancer, which makes every performance unique and un-choreographed.

Safiya performs Classical and Modern Egyptian Raqs Sharki, Lebanese and Turkish Oriental, Persian and ATS Fusion. She is the featured performer at both Petra Mediterranean Restaurant and Casablanca Hookah Lounge in Lexington, Kentucky (where most of the clientele are of Arabic and Mediterranean heritage), as well as performing at Festivals, events, and private parties all over North and Central America.
Safiya has a wide array of costumes to fit any venue;from Cabaret styles and Egyptian Bedlahs to Folkloric Beledi and Saidi dresses,as well as, Fantasy Gypsy Costumes, and American Tribal/ Gothic she can accommodate the needs of any event. As well as performing Middle Eastern Dance, Safiya is a professional instructor and choreographer with over 10 years of experience in Middle Eastern dance and culture. Safiya also gives lectures and dance workshops.
Weekly lessons are available at Jefferson Fitness Club 508 Maryland Ave. Lexington, Kentucky Tuesdays 6:30 pm, Wednesdays 7 pm, and Saturdays 9 am and 12 noon.
